Third-Place Qualification Rules
In the expanded 48-team format, 8 of the 12 third-place teams advance to the Round of 32. Here's how they're determined:
Ranking Criteria (in order)
- Points – Most points earned in 3 group matches
- Goal Difference – Goals scored minus goals conceded
- Goals Scored – Total goals scored
- Fair Play Score – Fewest yellow/red cards
- FIFA World Ranking – Higher-ranked team advances
Status Meanings
Important Notes
- Scenarios become available after Matchday 2 (when teams have played 2 games)
- A team with 4 points could still be eliminated if others have 4+ points with better tiebreakers
- The calculator updates in real-time as matches are played
- Final rankings are confirmed only after all 72 group stage matches complete
